Principal's Address
Welcome back to 2020! What a wonderful start we have had to the year. We welcomed 14 Class Ones on their journey through Classes 1 to 6 with the Rose Ceremony. Roses are complex flowers that are evocative of deep feelings. Their structure is mysterious and labyrinthine. The colour of the rose is very deep or very delicate, depending on the variety. Its scent is powerful and luxurious. Roses tend to give us pause, humble us with their beauty and are recognized all around the world as markers of significant moments.
At Golden Hill we present a rose to each Class One student to call them to what they will become on their journey from Class 1 to 6. The rose, just like each child, holds the promise of growth into mature beauty and complexity.
By now, everyone will have noticed that building has begun on our Administration Block upgrade. We were lucky enough to secure a Commonwealth Grant to assist us in undertaking the build which will provide us with office space for all admin staff in the one building, a dedicated first aid/sick bay, improved staff ablutions and a staff room that will accommodate staff resources and preparation spaces more comfortably than our current location. The build will take place for the duration of Term 1 and possibly the first few weeks of Term 2. For the duration of the build, the office has re-located to Class 3 so if you are looking for Tegan, Jody, Oona or myself, that is where you will find us. We have the previous Finance office as a meeting space for anyone who wishes to meet with us confidentially.
The P&F have many events planned for Term 1. Funds raised this year will go towards the construction of a Kitchen Garden Classroom to support our Biodynamic Gardening program run by Neal Collins.
Warm Regards,
Jacqui Hamblin
