Playgroup News

Here is the flower bud shut oh so tight
Here is the sun shining oh so bright
Here is the rain, down it comes
Opening the flower buds one by one

One of my favourite things about playgroup, is holding the sense of magic, wonder and beauty with the children. In spending time with young children, I am reminded to notice the beauty and unfolding in the world around me.

The arrival of Spring is hard to miss! The musky smell of coastal hakeas and acacias, the ducks in pairs, waddling across the road - now slowly being followed by their padding little ducklings. The mornings are lighter, the wind is warmer, and the giant Playgroup tree is beginning to bud.

We may notice and celebrate the change and arrival of seasons in many ways, but to celebrate the unfurling with a festival, is truly something special. A respected playgroup mentor, Ebba Bodame shares that when we celebrate festivals, we are sending positive thoughts, reverence and acknowledgment to nature. In this process we are giving back to nature as we bring harmony between the sense world and the spiritual world. With this noticing, this pause, this connection, we help to create a brighter, more enriched future.
Another topic that’s been hot at playgroup this Term, is the celebration of ‘Wow moments’. Wow! We've had 3 new babies born into playgroup families this Term! Hehe - well, that's a BIG wow moment. But they don't all need to be big WOWs to be meaningful.
A ‘Wow moment’ could be as simple as noticing the trail of purple native wisteria petals on the path to the beach, listening to the frogs as they call after rain, hearing the whirring wings of a honey eater, celebrating the vivid beauty of a rainbow, the peeping of a fluffy chick born, the tenderness of heart as your child drifts to sleep, the smell of apple porridge in the morning.…
As we bring attention to these wow moments, we seem to attract more, and we create a more joyful, present and enriched future.

So, here’s to noticing. To celebrating the beauty that unfolds around us. And to lapping up these Wow moments and creating a connected, colourful and joyful future together!

Warmly,
Laura x
