Principal's Address
In striving forth towards the goal,
I feel new firmness in my soul.
The I-of-God in knowing sight
Fills all my will with gleaming light.
And in these hidden depths, this radiant glow,
By bringing light to darkness, makes the good fruit grow.
Dear GHSS Families,
Here we are in the second half of Term 1 and today, March 8th, we marked International Women's Day with a morning tea. The purpose of this day is to recognise the importance of women in our world and to look upon the tale of struggles and enpowerment of women over centuries and pay our tribute to the females in our lives. For me, that includes many women in both my professional and personal life, but I wish to pay tribute to the 2 women who have had the most tremendous impact on my life and in shaping the woman I have become - both beautiful, intelligent, strong yet vulnerable, feisty characters - my 95 year old grandmother, Marie Rose O'Kane and my 9 year old daughter, Verity May Hamblin. Thank you to them for blessing me with many life lessons. Who are the women in your life that you will be acknowledging today?
At the end of next week we will be holding our Autumn Festival. Our Harvest Table will once again be donated to the Denmark Community Collective for re-distribution to those in need. Thank you to parents across all the classes for taking on the organisation of a courage challenge for the afternoon activities. Please be in touch with class carers to find out a part you can play if you are yet to be participating. We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible there.
Have a fantastic fortnight!
Warm regards,
Jacqui Hamblin
