We are past the half way mark for Term 4 and nearing the end of Spring, heading into Summer. The Noongar people recognise this time of the year as Kambarang, a second Spring which brings longer periods of dry warm days. It is a time to enjoy the many flowering plants in region before the heat of Birak arrives. The P&F are geared up for our first ice-cream day on Thursday, December 5th. Made from 100% frozen fruit we are all looking forward to that.
On Monday this week the Perth Waldorf School hosted a gathering of the WA Heads of Steiner Schools. Although each Steiner School operates independently, there are of course many operational and managerial aspects in common. It is wonderful to observe the a common picture amongst WA Steiner schools of a strengthening of the education being delivered by the dedicated teachers in our schools.
On behalf of the whole Golden Hill Steiner School community I offer my congratulations to Class 4 teacher, Ellen Somas, on her recent marriage to Sebastian and wish them both a long, happy and blessed married life together.
In 2016 the school secured a grant from the Commonwealth Government to undertake capital works on a much needed upgrade of our admin area and improvement staff preparation areas, ablutions and staff amenity areas. This year we have been successful in applying for a low-interest loan to complete this capital project and shortly we will begin construction with a completion date in early term 1 2020. A copy of the plans are available for viewing on our pin-up board outside the office.
If your child accesses a school bus in order to travel into town or regularly travels with a friend for sleepovers or playdates, could you please register them with school bus services as a complimentary passenger by visiting the School Bus Services website, and completing a Complimentary passenger form under the parents tab. If you are unable to access the internet, forms can be requested from the office.
