The Bush Dance on Saturday night was a huge success by all accounts. Many thanks to Mike and his Band for the music. Congratulations to the P&F team – Penny for drawing it all together; Theresa and Haikam for the catering; and Rosie, Kimberley and Kylie for their efforts with the Hall. Another fabulous night of connection and community for our school and a very successful event in raising much needed funds for our Kitchen Garden Classroom, topped off with the drawing of our Thermomix raffle! Thank you to all those who contributed in one way or another and who came along to support this event.
Our Autumn Festival has been moved to accommodate the participation of the school in the Steiner Education Australia Delegate’s AGM. This is an opportunity for our school and state to have a voice on a national platform and further advance and develop Steiner Education in Australia. Robyn and I will be travelling to Orana Steiner School in Canberra and participating in the SEA Delegate’s AGM on the Friday and Saturday. The theme of the meeting is What is the world asking of us now?
Playgroup is now happening in our beautiful Silver Birch Kindergarten room. Families can enrol for the term for a reduced rate of $90 or casual attendance at $12 a session is also welcomed. Meanwhile, there are some magical happenings in our Peppermint Cottage and I can’t wait to unveil them soon…
Warm Regards,
Jacqui Hamblin
Principal
In the past, the school has been accepting Student Withdrawal forms from parents who “may” or “might” withdraw at the end of term. There has also been a request to the school to release parents from the obligation to provide a term’s notice where the main class teacher leaves the school unexpectedly. The school will no longer accept withdrawal forms unless they are for a definite withdrawal, as we now have waitlists in some classes. Once a withdrawal is confirmed we will allocate your vacated place to a waitlist enrolment. The only case in which a “may” withdraw application will be accepted is in the case of new enrolments who wish to have a term on trial.
In relation to staff changes, whilst keeping a class teacher through Classes 1-6 is desirable in Steiner schools, wherever possible, it not something any Steiner school is able to guarantee. There are also many other things that make a Steiner school what it is and we strive to provide those at Golden Hill also. The board has reviewed the enrolment policy of the school for this year and a change of this nature will not be considered. We ask that parents give close consideration to notifications of withdrawal.

The Golden Hill Bush Dance was another ripper of a night, with plenty of foot stomping music, tasty food and enthusiastic dancing. A huge thank you to Rosie, Kylie & Kimberley for their combined efforts in setting up the hall. It looked beautiful. Mike & his Bush Band played fantastic tunes and Mike really knows how to keep the momentum up with all the moves. Thank you to Robyn & Mick for the lemonade & cupcake stall, it was a great success and really boosted our P&F fundraising efforts. Another big 'Thank You' to Theresa for pulling the catering together all week with the help of Michelle P, Cairo & Carol. Thank you to Haikam for whipping up her vegetarian curry. Everyone was certainly well fed on the night.
Thank you to Evie, Poppy & Iris for their busking talents in Denmark Town on Saturday morning. They raised $83.40 and kindly donated the cash to the P&F. What a great effort!
Thank you to all the children who shared their musical talents on the night.
All in all the P&F cannot run these events without all the many helpers on the night and we appreciate everyone's efforts. We made a total of $822.94 once the costs had been taken out. We made $701 from our Thermomix Raffle. Not quite the $2,000 we hoped for as we only sold 99 tickets all up but still a great addition to our funds needed for the outdoor kitchen classroom.
Any feedback about the night and ideas for future events welcome at our upcoming P&F meeting on Monday 23rd March 2020 at 10am. The 10am start time to allow people time to travel in. Happy to meet people earlier for a catch up if they are there from drop off.
