Something new is mounting, growing
Deep within me, outward surging.
Seed is ripening, sap is flowing;
Power streaming, light emerging.
Fire-spirits sparkle round me, warmth and will-bestowing;
"Sing our fiery song of summer strength!" I hear them urging.
Dear GHSS Families,
High Caseload Measures for Schools Yesterday afternoon, new guidelines were announced for schools in relation to high COVID caseload measures. As a result, the state has seen a relaxing of close contact definitions and reductions in quarantine times. With the reduction in these requirements, there has been an increase in the protocols to be followed at school.
Effective from this morning, Tuesday 8th, schools and parents were required to follow the guidelines below.
- parents will be permitted on school sites for drop-off and pick-up in outdoor locations only and are not permitted to enter classrooms
- mask wearing for parents will be expanded to outdoors where physical distancing can’t be maintained (in regions with existing mask mandates are in place)
- gatherings of parents on school sites should be avoided
- parent teacher interviews will occur online or over the phone
- Parent-teacher meetings must be held online or by phone
- Schools should look at ways to minimise student/staff movement
- all camps must be postponed or cancelled
- No choirs or orchestras are to meet face-to-face
Please keep in mind that the purpose of these measures is to keep school communities as clear of COVID as possible so that schools can remain open and operational for as much of the school year as possible.

Many thanks for your continued cooperation in meeting these guidelines. Whilst we appreciate and share your frustrations, these guidelines will not remain in place forever, as we gradually move towards the pandemic becoming endemic. In the meantime, protecting the vulnerable in the community and ensuring the continuation of the day to day running of the school is our top priority.
Bushfire Recovery Assistance The recent fires in our community have had devastating consequences for many in our town and have hit particularly hard in our Golden Hill Steiner School Community. A class teacher, a family with children in Classes 6 and 3 and the grandparent of children in Classes 1 and 3 were amongst those who lost their home and all their contents in the recent fires. Countless other families are unable to return to their homes until it is safe to do so, as they are without power and potable water. Our hearts go out to all those who are suffering through these times of uncertainty and loss.
And as our town, and particularly our school community is known for, there are many of us seeking to assist in whatever way possible. At this stage, those contacted are not yet sure of what assistance they need and are not yet ready to accept meal roster assistance, as in many cases, this is one of the routine and normal functions they have the opportunity to perform wherever they are staying. However I am sure once people return home and are busy tidying and cleaning up the aftermath, meal rosters may well be very appreciated. We shall notify the school community as soon as that is required.
Many thanks to Miranda Miller who has been coordinating assistance and rosters between classes 3 & 6. Anyone, from any class, who can offer assistance is welcome to email me so we can build a roster database if who can assist and any families across the school who require assistance can email principal@goldenhill.wa.edu.au to let me know what we can ccoordinate to help you.
At this stage, we are looking for people who are able to take a load of smoke-scented washing home to launder and return to the school dry and folded, for those families returning to smoke impacted homes who have the unenviable task of washing all the clothing and linen in their homes. Please register you ability to help in this way through either Miranda or by emailing me at the above address. Those wishing to avail themselves of this roster, please contact me also so we can coordiate how this occurs.

School Absences - Important! - Copy
As we begin the school year, please note that if your child is not attending school due to illness or another reason, it is required that you notify the school office (even if you have notified the class teacher). The different ways that you can do this are -
Email - office@goldenhill.wa.edu.au
Phone the school office on 9848 1811.
Schoolzine - Log into the Schoolzine app and use the tile on the front page labelled 'Absentee'. Information can be found below on how to install the Schoolzine app on your phone, if you haven't already. The app is one stop shop to receive information from the school, contact the school and to submit forms such as absentee/excursion forms.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
