Welcome back to 2020! What a wonderful start we have had to the year. We welcomed 14 Class Ones on their journey through Classes 1 to 6 with the Rose Ceremony. Roses are complex flowers that are evocative of deep feelings. Their structure is mysterious and labyrinthine. The colour of the rose is very deep or very delicate, depending on the variety. Its scent is powerful and luxurious. Roses tend to give us pause, humble us with their beauty and are recognized all around the world as markers of significant moments.
At Golden Hill we present a rose to each Class One student to call them to what they will become on their journey from Class 1 to 6. The rose, just like each child, holds the promise of growth into mature beauty and complexity.
By now, everyone will have noticed that building has begun on our Administration Block upgrade. We were lucky enough to secure a Commonwealth Grant to assist us in undertaking the build which will provide us with office space for all admin staff in the one building, a dedicated first aid/sick bay, improved staff ablutions and a staff room that will accommodate staff resources and preparation spaces more comfortably than our current location. The build will take place for the duration of Term 1 and possibly the first few weeks of Term 2. For the duration of the build, the office has re-located to Class 3 so if you are looking for Tegan, Jody, Oona or myself, that is where you will find us. We have the previous Finance office as a meeting space for anyone who wishes to meet with us confidentially.
The P&F have many events planned for Term 1. Funds raised this year will go towards the construction of a Kitchen Garden Classroom to support our Biodynamic Gardening program run by Neal Collins.
Warm Regards,
Jacqui Hamblin

KEEP IN TOUCH!
I encourage all parents to download the Schoolzine App to their phones as this really is a “One-Stop-Shop” for all things related to the school and we are adding to it all the time. The app is free to download and runs on Apple and android phones. Our Calendar lists all the events for each class / whole school / P&F and as it is live, it updates as we add new events to it so you always know what is going on! P&F will have their own tile with links to all their events and meeting agendas and minutes. You are able to submit absentee notes and permission forms from the app – no more lost notes on the way to and from school! The latest newsletter is at your fingertips and you can call us at the touch of a button. Schoolzine really is useful for everyone and has become the chosen app for communicating with over half the Steiner schools in WA.
2020 FEES
Invoices have been issued along with payment contracts. Could all families please forward their payment contracts by the end of the week to avoid incurring any penalty charges. Those wishing to take advantage of the 10% discount are reminded that payment is due by Friday February 14th.

Hi Everyone,
We had a wonderful day at the Hands in the Earth day on Saturday 8th Feb. We broke even on food and have leftovers for our bush dance. We have a winning formula in Theresa organising catering and Kristi doing her work with the children. I almost feel talked out! It was a great day. Two young families came so a great introduction to the school grounds. The river bush area holds space for big and small groups and I really feel we are building momentum and expect more people at the April date.
This Saturday 15th Feb, we have our sausage sizzle & bake sale outside the Supa IGA from 7am set up to 2pm. Golden Hill Fiddlers will be playing to promote the Bush Dance. We would love to see staff come along to support it if you are in town.
We had our first P&F meeting last Wednesday with 6 people attending, two new - Hannah & Sandra. Sandra in particular had wonderful input and ideas about the Class Carer role and using them more to recruit volunteers. P&F Meeting minutes will be out this week. Hopefully we will get our Association status this week too.
Have a great week,
Penny, Chair P&F
Busy Bee Wonderfulness...
Oh my what a glorious group we are! Our back to school busy bee was such an expression of what our collective energy and willingness can achieve. Thank You!
To all the Big and Little people who raked and shovelled, tidied and sorted, nattered and shared, Thank You! Our school lifted to looking and feeling so welcoming and ready to receive our little ones on day one of the new school year. It is a wonderful tradition, the Back to School Busy Bee. Not only do the school grounds and buildings shake off their summer holiday dust but we get to reconnect with old friends and welcome those new to our space.
For those who came, please don’t forget to keep a record of your parenting hours (there are forms in the office to fill in Parent Hours so these can be tracked by office staff). And watch this space for the next busy bee where we’ll jump into something project-y and good...
With a glad heart… Kat
Don’t forget our Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall at Denmark SUPA IGA is this weekend from 8am-2pm on Saturday February 15th. More helpers are needed and we are also looking for donations of baked goods, ingredients clearly labelled, for our stall. These can be dropped to the Stall on Saturday morning – or if you are not in town then, feel free to deliver to the school at the end of Friday! All proceeds will go towards our Kitchen Garden Classroom, so spread the word!

9-11 Wednesdays
HooRAYY for those darn fine people who rolled on up over the warm summer days to help keep the schools Vegie patch and orchard in order. Thanks too to the truly MARVELLOUS mob who swung hammers and heaved poles to get the new orchard up and into readiness for the netting. All of your sweat and enthusiasm has meant that Neal and the food growing awesomeness that he leads was in a fine place of readiness... Thanks ever, ever so much.
And don’t forget… Wednesday mornings Garden Group is 9 – 11am. You bring your wee ones and your gloves, I bring sweet somethings for morning tea.
